The ClaireChase Uptown Netbook Bak-Pack Small (Red) is very stylish and attractive for a backpack. I'm a backpack handbag kind of girl. And a bit of a pack rack. So I thought this would be perfect as a dressier alternative to my normal workday black leather backpack. I really love the pebbled red leather. The quality is top notch and the size is perfect for daily use. Holds a lot of stuff. But it can get heavy if you really fill it up, like I tend to do. I thought this would finally be the one...but there are some key drawbacks.1. The straps are way too long. I have broad shoulders but I had to put extra holes about 6 inches up from where the holes ended, just so I could adjust it to fit. Not sure what I'm going to do with the extra straps hanging down.2. The drawstring closure is nice for accessing things quickly but the cinch is not very secure. The magnetic snap closure is nice and strong but even with the bag full, it looks a bit loose and I worry about losing things.3. This was billed as a netbook backpack. It's certainly large enough for my Lenovo ultrabook, but there's no sleeve to separate my PC from all the other stuff.I usually carry nultiple devices at different times. The large back zip pocket will accomodate my 7" Nook Color tablet, but not my iPad or my 10" Nook. None of the pockets are padded, so you need to protect your devices yourself. I use neoprene sleeves to keep things light. There are two side zip pockets. These are padded on the side facing out. I use them for carrying my glasses and sunglasses cases. You could also use them for cell phone or other devices of similar size. There are open pockets between the main part of the bag and the side zip pockets that are perfrect for carrying a compact umbrella and a bottle of water. The main compartment is totally open. It only has one smaller zip pocket, so if you need to carry cosmetics and all the other paraphenalia of daily life, I suggest putting everything into smaller (light) cases, like the free ones you get from clinique, to keep things organized. The front zip section is lightly padded. I was able to fit my iPad, but it was a squeeze with my keyboard cover and my phone.Bottom line with this bag...it's very attractive for a backpack, so I'll use it occasionally. But it doesn't exactly fit all my needs and the straps are not the most comfortable.
